Harvard Divinity School Eco-Theology Fellowship

The HDS Eco-Theology Fellowship brings together students who share a commitment to cultivating their spirituality through engagement with the natural world and its residents, human and non-human. Salata Institute Funds New Student Organization Collaborations in Sustainable Transit, Environmental Justice

The Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability has awarded two new collaborative student projects through the Student Organization Funding Program. This Fall, one awarded group will conduct a campus-wide transit survey to help improve sustainable transportation options on campus and one awarded group will organize a conference exploring the intersection of law, public health, and environmental justice.

Harvard Divinity School is hosting a student-led Climate Justice Week from April 10 – 14. This week will provide an opportunity for HDS students and members of the Harvard community to build connections, activate their passion around environmental justice, and understand the role that religion, spirituality, and the Divinity School play in the conversation around climate.

Salata Institute Hosts Second Semesterly Student Meeting 

The Salata Institute held a second convening of over 50 students representing more than 30 climate and sustainability student organizations across Harvard University. Attendees heard updates from the Salata Institute and student organization representatives and provided valuable feedback to the Salata Institute.

The Salata Institute is engaging student organizations to strengthen climate and sustainability activity across Harvard University. In October 2022, the Salata Institute convened more than 40 student leaders from some 25 student organizations to discuss ways that the Institute could support their efforts.

The Salata Institute Sponsors Six Student-Led Projects Across Campus 

Through its Student Organization Funding Pilot Program, the Salata Institute is supporting six student-led projects. The purpose of the program is to promote collaboration among student organizations that jointly undertake climate or sustainability programs, projects, or events.

Create climate documentaries cover.

Outspoken Narratives

Outspoken Narratives is a student-run nonprofit documentary studio focused on climate change storytelling. The studio specializes in creating short documentary films and has produced content on the Arctic Refuge, oil rig conversion, BC Vancouver deforestation, and environmental racism, among other topics. In the past the studio has worked with NGOs such as NOAA, OPS, Extinction Rebellion, and Conservationist Collective. They are currently accepting applications.

HUCE Climate Leaders Program

In January, two dozen Indigenous youth from across the circumpolar North visited Cambridge for the International Workshop on Indigenous Youth Leadership for the Changing Arctic. They joined Harvard Kennedy School students for the second half of IGA-67M: “Policy and Social Innovation for the Changing Arctic” for an intensive course in developing their own policy and social innovations to address issues in a region warming four times faster than the rest of the world.
