Dolly Bai: "Private Wind Rights and Their Public Consequences" - Summary: This talk will discuss the legal implications of wind energy, analyzing how the law shapes wind ownership and its broader consequences for the public. - Bio: Dolly Bai is a 3L J.D. candidate at Harvard Law School. She focuses on property law, financing, and electricity market regulation issues related to a just transition to clean energy. She has worked at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and with the energy and infrastructure project finance group at a law firm. 2. Matthew P. Johnson: "Environmental History of Brazilian Hydropower: Reflecting on Past Experiences with Low-Carbon Energy" - Summary: Dive into the environmental history of Brazilian hydropower, exploring the socioeconomic and environmental tradeoffs of hydropower dams and the energy transition. - Bio: Matthew P. Johnson is an environmental historian and 2022-2024 postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard University Center for the Environment. His main research area is energy in Latin America, and his first book, an environmental history of Brazilian hydropower dams, is forthcoming with Cambridge University Press in April 2024. While at Harvard, he has been researching and writing a second book on Caribbean oil refineries. 🍃 Refreshments will be provided.
