Breakout Session

Featuring Gage Hills, Harvard SEAS; Vijay Reddi, Harvard SEAS; and Yicheng Zhu, University of California, Berkeley

As computation becomes an increasingly significant component of global energy consumption, rethinking how we design and deploy computing systems is essential for climate progress. This session brings together SEAS faculty working across the computing stack, from circuits and architectures to networks and edge AI, to explore strategies for minimizing energy use while enabling intelligent, climate-supporting technologies. Topics include efficient data movement and computation, AI for grid intelligence, and ultra-low-power AI systems like TinyML. The session showcases how energy-aware computing can become a foundation for scalable, systems-level solutions to the climate crisis.
