William Boos
William Boos researches large-scale climate dynamics, focusing on atmospheric circulation, monsoons, extreme weather, and the role of water phase changes in the atmosphere. His work combines theory, observational analysis, and numerical modeling to explore key questions in planetary science. He is the Equity Advisor for Berkeley’s Department of Earth and Planetary Science, faculty advisor for the Climate Science minor, an editor for the Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences, and a Faculty Scientist at LBNL. He also teaches courses on atmospheric dynamics, climate, and extreme weather.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
