
Vinay Kumar Sehgal
Vinay Kumar Sehgal is the Head and Principal Scientist at the ICAR – Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, with over 32 years of experience in agricultural research. His work spans crop water and nitrogen use, residue burning and pollution modeling, drought monitoring, yield forecasting, and climate change vulnerability. He coordinates ICAR’s “Space Technology Cell” and operates its first satellite ground station. His lab provides crop residue burning reports to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and contributes to national initiatives on drought management and satellite-based crop monitoring.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
