Suma Pathy
Suma represents Population Services International where she led a flagship USAID-funded Urban Health Systems project, Samagra. She has close to two decades of work experience in public health, fostering partnerships, including private and public sector collaborations, for improving access and demand for public health products and services in underserved areas and has worked at translating research and pilots to policy. Earlier, she led the Innovations and Private Sector vertical for PSI. Suma designed a digital platform to provide gig workers with access to government and private health benefits through customized insurance solutions funded by employers. She is also developing a parametric insurance product for gig workers and other urban outdoor workers to respond to the effect of climate change on livelihoods and health.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
