
Srinivisan Iyer
Srinivasan is a Senior Fellow at the New Political Economy Initiative (NPEI) at IIT Bombay. He is a former Senior Program Officer at the Ford Foundation in New Delhi, where his grantmaking focused on employment challenges, social protection policies, and livelihood models in key industrial and agricultural sectors. His work emphasized women’s employment in non-traditional occupations and improving urban environments for low-income workers. Prior to joining the foundation in 2014, he served as Assistant Country Director at UNDP India, leading initiatives on energy and the environment. In the early 1990s, he co-founded Samaj Pragati Sahayog, an NGO focused on livelihood security and political empowerment for marginalized communities in central India.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
