
Rajashree Kotharkar
Rajashree Kotharkar is a Professor at the Department of Architecture and Planning at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) in Nagpur, India. Her research focuses on urban environmental issues such as the impact of urban morphology on heat stress and outdoor thermal comfort, and sustainable urban development. She currently works on heat wave studies and develops policies for urban heat risk mitigation and adaptation. Dr. Kotharkar has contributed to multiple national and international projects funded by agencies including the Department of Science and Technology, GoI, World Bank, and the American Red Cross. She also serves on the expert committees for the National Disaster Management Authority and State Disaster Management Authority of Maharashtra.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
