Natalia Thorup
Project Manager, Climate Action Accelerator
Natalia Thorup Damonte is the Project Manager for the Climate Action Accelerator at the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability at Harvard University, where she works with Harvard researchers and implementing partners across government, civil society, and the private sector to co-create durable, equitable climate solutions.
Before joining the Accelerator, Natalia was a Rose Service Fellow with Partners In Health–Socios En Salud in Lima, Peru, where she designed community-centered assessments of climate and health impacts—building on earlier community-based research with Andean communities in Peru, Chile, and Argentina on how climate change is reshaping traditional livelihoods. Earlier in her career, she worked as a researcher at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, investigating host–pathogen interactions.
Natalia holds a Master of Science in Environmental Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College.
In her free time, Natalia enjoys reading, camping, cooking Peruvian food, and getting outdoors whenever she can.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
