
Melanie Morten
Melanie Morten is an Associate Professor of Economics at Stanford University, a Senior Fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR), a Research Associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Fellow of the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD).
She is a development economist whose research seeks to improve our understanding of the migratory processes of the poor. Her research combines empirical data with economic theory to better understand how households manage risk and opportunity in low-income countries. The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so.
