
Joy Shumake-Guillemot
Joy Shumake-Guillemot leads the WHO/WMO Joint Office for Climate and Health in Geneva, Switzerland, and serves as the co-coordinator of the Global Heat Health Information Network (GHHIN). An experienced environmental health scientist and public health practitioner, she has collaborated with organizations like WHO, WMO, and UNICEF to develop policies and programs for climate adaptation and risk management. With extensive field experience across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, she supports public health and humanitarian assistance programs. A prominent expert in climate services for health, Joy has dedicated over a decade to enhancing the integration of climate and weather information into public health policy and practice.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so.
