Jon Proctor
Jonathan Proctor is an environmental economist and scientist specializing in agronomy, climate science, remote sensing, and machine learning. He is an assistant professor in Food and Resource Economics at the University of British Columbia. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Harvard Data Science Initiative and the Center for the Environment. Proctor’s research focuses on developing methods to quantify human impacts on climate and their effects on global socio-environmental systems. His work explores the interactions of light, water, and temperature in crop growth and leverages high-resolution imagery to assess environmental and socioeconomic conditions.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
