Jim Clem
Jim Clem is the Associate Director at the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability and Managing Director of the Harvard University Center for the Environment (HUCE), a Center of the Salata Institute. Jim has worked with the Harvard environmental community since 2007 and brings a wealth of experience in academic program management to his role at the Salata Institute. As Associate Director, Jim works closely with the Institute Director and Executive Director, as well as the Faculty Steering Committee and Research Committee, to develop and administer new research and educational opportunities for faculty and students. As HUCE Managing Director, Jim oversees the operations of the HUCE physical space and manages the Harvard Environmental Fellows Program, the Harvard Climate Leaders Program for Professional Students, and the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program.
He previously worked as the Executive Officer of the Harvard Academy Scholars Program at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and Executive Director at the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute. He holds a B.A. with High Honors in Political Science from Swarthmore College and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
