
Gabriel Vecchi
Gabriel Vecchi is a Professor in the Department of Geosciences and the High Meadows Environmental Institute at Princeton University, where he also serves as Director of the High Meadows Environmental Institute and Deputy Director of the Cooperative Institute for Modeling the Earth System (CIMES). His research focuses on understanding changes in oceans and atmosphere, including monsoons, El Niño, tropical cyclones, and global patterns of rainfall and drought. Gabriel has been recognized on the Reuters “Hot List” of leading climate scientists. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report as a Lead Author.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
