Facundo Soraire
Originally from Jujuy, Argentina, Facundo Soraire is a Fulbright Scholar and Master in
Urban Planning candidate at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His work focuses on
the intersection of climate resilience, urban and policy strategies, and community
development, exploring how inclusive planning and design can foster adaptation in
vulnerable communities.
Facundo has experience in both the public and private sectors. As a consultant for the
Ministry of Education of Jujuy, he worked on planning and decision-making processes that
promoted international bank investments for local impacts in rural schools and their
surrounding communities, with a focus on sustainability and resilience in the face of climate
change. Previously, as an urban designer, he contributed to projects on socio-urban
integration in Buenos Aires and on public and social infrastructure in Spain, advancing
design strategies for equitable and sustainable development.
At Harvard, Facundo has collaborated with faculty and peers on projects linking policy,
design, and climate action—most recently contributing to wildfire adaptation and land
stewardship strategies at SWA Group in California. He also serves in several student
leadership roles, including the Harvard Argentine Student Society, LatinGSD, and the
Harvard Urban Planning Organization, fostering community and dialogue across schools.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
