
David Michaels
David Michaels is a professor at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health and a leading expert in occupational and environmental health. He served as the longest-tenured Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA, where he implemented landmark safety regulations and programs to protect workers and whistleblowers. Previously, he was Assistant Secretary for Environment, Safety, and Health at the Department of Energy, where he developed initiatives to support nuclear workers and communities. An advocate for scientific integrity, he is the author of The Triumph of Doubt and Doubt is Their Product, addressing the manipulation of science in public policy.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so.
