
Carole Voulgaris
Dr. Carole Turley Voulgaris is an Associate Professor of Urban Planning in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She holds a PhD in urban planning from UCLA, an MBA from the University of Notre Dame, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Brigham Young University. She is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Washington. Prior to joining the Harvard faculty, she was an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at California Polytechnic State University. Dr. Voulgaris’s research is primarily focused on the role that metrics and measurement play in transportation planning practice and on the social and built-environment factors that hinder or facilitate households’ choices to travel by sustainable modes.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
