Bhaskar Rajakumar
Bhaskar Rajakumar is the Program Director of Healthcare Initiatives at ARTPARK@IISc. ARTPARK’s Heat and Health Initiative leverages AI-driven hyperlocal forecasting to predict and mitigate heat-related health risks in India. Starting with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the system integrates climate, health, and social vulnerability data to provide up to 10-day lead-time forecasts, aiding decision-makers and vulnerable populations. By focusing on fisherfolk, agricultural laborers, daily-wage workers, and urban slum dwellers, this initiative aims to impact over 150 million people across India and serve as a model for climate resilience in the Indian Ocean and ASEAN regions.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
