Allan Hsiao
Allan Hsiao is an assistant professor of economics at Stanford University. His research focuses on environmental and development economics broadly, with a particular focus on the causes and consequences of climate change. He is especially interested in the uneven global impacts of climate change, including how lower-income countries face disproportionate damages from warmer temperatures and more extreme weather events. Recent work has explored sea level rise and urban adaptation in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
