New global mobility data now available for Harvard research

The Salata Institute’s Urban Mobility and Climate Change research cluster has obtained high-quality global mobility data for use by Harvard-affiliates working on a wide variety of topics – from urban planning, to climate change, and much more.
The dataset from Veraset Movement contains worldwide de-identified smartphone location data from January 1, 2019 – December 31, 2024 (European Union data is only from January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2024).
Given the size and complexity of this data and the unique administrative requirements for working with it, Harvard has set up an internal website to provide interested research teams with key information, as well as administrative and technical resources to leverage it effectively. (Due to contract stipulations from the data provider, it can only be used by Harvard affiliates under specific terms.)
The data was purchased with support from the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability and multiple other Harvard centers, libraries and research teams.
