Harvard Climate Action Week Speakers Named to TIME's Climate 100
This week, TIME magazine released its list of influential climate leaders in business in 2024. Among them were Nili Gilbert and Andrew Forrest, speakers who recently addressed the challenge of decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors at Harvard Climate Action Week 2024.
“Nili Gilbert is helping firms around the world, including Meta, JetBlue, and JPMorgan Chase, manage their carbon emissions,” says TIME of the Vice Chairwoman of Carbon Direct. In her interview, Gilbert calls for government action to reinforce private commitments. “The private sector has made a great number of voluntary commitments to net zero,” says Gilbert. “But for private sector action to continue to advance, we now need to see governments take up the mantle to drive price competitiveness between low-carbon solutions and high-emission incumbents.”
Andrew Forrest, described by TIME as “one of the business world’s most prominent climate advocates,” is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Fortescue. In his interview with TIME, Forrest shares “there is no way to keep the goal of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius alive without ending the use of fossil fuels and accelerating the rollout of renewable energy and green technology.”
