Early Adopter Cities Highlight Wins and Lessons Learned in Creating EV Charging Networks
How do you plan an electric vehicle (EV) charging program? Should the community own it or support private operators? A recent Salata Institute report investigates lessons learned from early adopter cities.
A new article in Public Management unpacks how cities can plan EV charging programs.
Author Laila Ale, an affiliated researcher at the Salata Institute and co-author of Lessons from Leading EV Charging Cities,” finds that successful early adaptor cities used different tools “to facilitate investment in charging, from directly investing in chargers, to facilitating private investment, to using building codes to encourage investment at multi-family residences and workplaces.”
Ale specializes in mobility innovation and has served as chief innovation officer of the U.S. Department of Transportation as well as the city of Dallas.
