Jason Beckfield
Jason Beckfield (he/him/his) is the Robert G. Stone Jr. Professor of Sociology at Harvard University. He took his PhD. in Sociology in 2005 at Indiana University in Bloomington and later taught at the University of Chicago before joining the Harvard faculty in 2007. At Harvard, he leads the Climate Sociology Lab, which studies the social lives of climate change, including energy transitions in indigenous and coastal communities, the social processes of decarbonizing transportation systems, and the distributional dimensions of mitigation, resilience and adaptation.
The Salata Institute
The Salata Institute supports interdisciplinary research that leads to real-world action, including high-risk/high-reward projects by researchers already working in the climate area and new endeavors that make it easier for Harvard scholars, who have not worked on climate problems, to do so. Faculty interested in the Climate Research Clusters program should note an upcoming deadline for concepts on April 1, 2024.
