A project of the Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD) and Harvard Divinity School (HDS), this convening is a weekend of interdisciplinary events exploring the intersections of rural life, design, sustainability, and spirituality.

This event is sponsored by Rural GSD and HDS Garden Club, with generous support from the Salata Institute for Climate and Sustainability, the Loeb Fellowship at Harvard GSD, and Harvard Divinity School.

The summit will be a three-day event on the weekend of April 10-12 at Gund Hall on Quincy St. in Cambridge, Massachusetts. We will begin with a gallery opening on Friday evening, followed by in-person panels on Saturday morning and afternoon, and excursions on Sunday.

The panels include:
  • Allyship and Design: Planning with Indigenous Communities
  • McDowell County, WV: At the Intersection of Innovation & Liberation: co-designing for a Sustainable Appalachia
  • Preserve, Conserve, and Revitalize: Rural Design Practice Today
