Update: Advancing the Climate Coalition Agenda
Following the announcement of the Open Coalition on Compliance Carbon Markets and building on its flagship Building a Climate Coalition report, the Climate Coalitions Working Group has reconvened and is now focused on the practical architecture of cooperation—mutual recognition of carbon pricing systems and structured engagement with policymakers and industry.
At the same time, the team is developing applied tools to support governments navigating border carbon adjustments, including a decision-support platform being piloted with finance ministries in partnership with the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action.
Beyond research, GCPP is engaging directly with governments and industry to shape high-level discussions on climate and trade. Active work in Africa and Southeast Asia is helping countries assess carbon pricing pathways and CBAM responses, while international engagement around London Climate Week and other major convenings is building broader awareness.
Taken together, this effort is designed to translate rigorous academic analysis into durable institutional architecture—aligning climate ambition with economic competitiveness.
