Flavor of Ocean: Harvard Food Systems and operation promoting healthy menus from sustainable food systems

Join the GSD FoodLab for a lecture by Smitha Haneef. Smitha will share about her philosophy and vision for Harvard University Dining Services and will provide insights in to Harvard University Dining Services approach to food systems to develop healthy menus from sustainable food systems. The lecture will provide an inside view of operations, purchasing, menu development, and community engagement while promoting local ingredients from the land and the sea.

Smitha Haneef is the Managing Director and Chief of Hospitality for Harvard University Dining Services and oversees hospitality and dining for Harvard College’s residential living and learning experience, as well as for numerous Harvard professional schools, plus campus catering and event services. HUDS operates over 30 different campus operations. Prior to joining Harvard, Smitha served as Assistant Vice President for University Services at Princeton University. Smitha has extensive experience leading professional services and workplace operations at multiple Fortune 500 companies. Smitha holds a Master of Science from University of Southern California, bachelor's in commerce from Osmania University, and diploma from India's National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology. As a lifelong learner Smitha has furthered her professional education at Harvard University and is alumnus of Harvard Business School.
