The Climate Fresk
The Climate Fresk is an interactive workshop to engage with climate science and to think collaboratively about solutions. The Climate Fresk is based on the latest science of the IPCC reports and has been developed based on kinesthetic and experiential learning and “learning by doing.” It is used widely all over the world, with industry, academia, public servants, at all levels of responsibilities and climate knowledge, from senior leadership of Fortune 500 companies to the general public. More than 1 million people worldwide have attended the workshop.
Climate and Queer Rights Intersectionality
Climate change education, particularly through tools like the Climate Fresk game-workshop, can be a powerful means to explore the intersectionality of climate change and queer rights, and to amplify LGBTQ lived experiences within the climate discourse. By centering participants' perspectives and experiences, Climate Fresk allows individuals to engage with climate change in a personal and relatable way, fostering empathy, understanding, and connection.
Safe space and personal stories
Each Climate Fresk builds on the special perspectives of its participants. One of the key benefits of Climate Fresk is its ability to create a safe and inclusive space for dialogue. LGBTQ individuals may have specific perspectives or face unique challenges and vulnerabilities in relation to climate change, and traditional educational tools may tend to overlook their experiences. Through Climate Fresk, participants can share their personal stories, concerns, and aspirations, allowing for a more nuanced understanding of the specific impacts and needs of the LGBTQ community. This creates an opportunity to address climate justice from an intersectional lens, acknowledging the interconnectedness of social identities, systems of oppression, and radical need for change.
Collaborative approach to systemic challenges
Climate Fresk is based on collaboration and collective problem-solving. By working together in the game-workshop, participants can explore the complex and systemic nature of climate change and can uplift intersections with queer rights. The collaborative approach of the Climate Fresk works to lower barriers between different learning styles and perspectives.
