Harvard simulation prepares cities for extreme heat
Extreme heat is the top weather-related killer in the United States. Leading researchers and public health experts from Harvard and beyond are offering a new simulation exercise to help city planners prepare for a changing climate.
Led by Satchit Balsari, emergency physician and Associate Professor of global health and population at Harvard Medical School, the unique simulation uses archival news footage, collaborative breakouts, historical reviews, and didactic sessions to immerse participants in an extreme heat scenario. Participants learn from experts – and from each other's experiences.
